Technical Services Manager
Hello I’m Rob, the Technical Services Manager for Ancar B Technologies and I look after the Service Team.
I started my technical life at Fujitsu as a help desk technician before shifting scope and moving companies to become a Field Service Engineer specialising in server & workstation hardware. After a couple of years I also began getting involved in software management and installations which I found I enjoyed more than just the hardware side of things. As I wanted to pursue a career in software support I became an IT manager for an industrial flooring company. I looked after their infrastructure for about 2 years and then felt I should move back into the IT industry – This is where my role at Ancar B began.
I have been at Ancar B for nearly 2 years now, starting out as a Senior Engineer. Despite being recently promoted to Technical Service Manager I am still very hands on and I am often wrist deep in computer dust and chips! I enjoy the managerial aspects of my role and also getting involved in projects that help move the company forward into new technologies and network infrastructures. However my main area of expertise remains in the installation, management and ongoing support of Microsoft Server and Network operating systems.
Outside of work I enjoy music, film and TV being an avid Lost and 24 fan. I am a keen football fan (armchair Man Utd supporter) and play 5-a-side twice a week. I also try to go to the gym 3 times a week with Martin although I’m sure Martin can’t remember the last time I actually went 3 times in a week!!
I will mainly blog about Microsoft technologies, server and network infrastructures – with the odd United chant just to wind up any of you local Leeds fans!!!
